North Wales Community Ride – April 2026
On the evening of March 25, the first Bike North Penn community ride took place in and around the streets of North Wales Borough. This year’s ride was a bit different. We started with a quick visit to the offices of the Partnership for Transportation and talked with their team about the Liberty Bell Trailblazers initiative as well as other important programs they operate in service to the general community. PFT moved to their office space in the borough in 2025 from a more remote site in Montgomery Township. This was our first chance to incorporate a visit with them as part of our rides.
The weather was a little chilly, but our route included some hilly sections (yes, North Wales has hills), which helped our riding group get warmed up as we moved along. We first tracked the path of the Tex Mex 5K in the northeast section of the borough, before traversing Sumneytown Pike via the crosswalk between North Wales Road and the SEPTA tracks. A train happened to be coming through at that time, so finding a gap in the car traffic was easy.

After winding our way through the southeast section of the borough, we took Center Street into the side entrance of Upper Gwynedd’s Parkside Place (thanks to the dramatically lit trail) and rode around the path at the front of the park before exiting through the same side trail.

We finished our ride near the Tex Mex Connection, and after taking our group photos, many of us parked our bikes on Tex Mex’s patio for some optional food and drinks. They had their outdoor fireplace lit up, which warmed the space as we all got reacquainted after a long winter.
In April, there will be two community rides – the first in the west section of Upper Gwynedd Township and another – Celebrate Trails Day, which will be a ride much longer than usual – 14 miles – going between Upper Gwynedd’s Parkside Place and Hatfield Township, following a route on existing and planned actions of the Liberty Bell Trail. See the Bike North Penn website for more details on these rides
